QR Codes are becoming increasingly popular across the world. If you haven't come across them yet and are unsure what they are, then we can tell you.
Quick Response (QR) Codes are two-dimensional barcodes that are read by smartphones and special QR reading devices that take you directly to websites, videos, images, text, phone numbers and more.
The QR code was created by Denso Wave in 1994, who are a subsidiary of Toyota, to track vehicles during the manufacturing process. It meant that vehicles could be identified quickly and efficiently using the QR reader. The technology has become increasingly popular outside of the automotive industry due to the speed and storage capabilities of these codes. In comparison to the traditional UPC barcodes that were used before, the QR code is revolutionary and allows anyone with the smartphone / QR reader to access information easily.
More recently, QR codes have been used as a marketing tool, and are appearing on posters, adverts, day-to-day products and billboards...even at bus stops. As the number of smartphone owners increases, the potential impact of the QR Code on society is huge. Advertising, marketing and customer service will be using these codes widely to direct customers to relevant information and to further their exploration into the company.
Here is an example of a Flexseal QR Code:

If you have a smartphone e.g. iPhone or Android then you can use a barcode scanner application that can read and decode the QR Code. Go to your App Store and search ‘QR Code Scanner' and a few options should be available for download free of charge. You'll then be able to scan this screen or a QR code seen on one of our adverts.
At Flexseal, we are using QR Codes on our advertising to encourage our customers to visit our YouTube channel. Here we feature a number of videos that explain how the installation process for our drain couplings, standard couplings, adaptor couplings and plumbing fittings amongst many other Flexseal products used in sewer and drainage systems.
A quality customer service is essential to Flexseal, and the QR code is just another way we like to connect with our customers. We can help with all coupling requirements and assist our customers with a tailor-made solution for their required specification.
Flexseal are manufacturers of flexible couplings, saddle connections, linear drainage channels and plumbing couplings. Please contact us with your requirements using the contact form, and a member of the Flexseal team will contact you.
