1st Quarter 2010: Flexseal - the World's Largest Couplings

The story begins with an order for two 2.9m diameter Flexseal couplings, to be manufactured and despatched within 24hrs.

Soon after the craftsmen of the world’s finest large diamater couplings got to work, a few of the team at Flexseal got their thinking caps on – how can we show in a photo how big this coupling is, and what a feat of materials and manufacturing it is to create?

And this is when we invited the Flexseal Business Development Manager, Helen Armitage-Calvert, to join in. But we kept our thinking caps on – what exactly can we ask Helen to do in this coupling? And this, as you will all agree, is an outstanding result.

The two couplings are now on their way to Blackpool where they will be installed as part of a 14 kilometre long sewer pipe which is wide enough to drive a car through. The pipe collects all the sewerage from Blackpool and the surrounding area and takes it to Fleetwood to be treated.
