The Fernco Manhole Lifting Key is ergonomically designed to help engineers lift an assortment of manhole covers safely and quickly, reducing down time and minimising the risk of back strains.
The handles and tips are made from vacuum invest cast stainless steel, the strongest form of casting.
This quality tool has 3 lifting positions and an interchangeable tip end system.
The whole design is based upon health and safety for manual lifting.
To lift in isolation you simply insert the correct tip into the handle body by using the press button quick release system. You are now ready to lift light covers.
The handles themselves are lightweight and are designed with a single handle to discourage over lifting. By this we mean you cannot fit two hands into a single handle.
The handle is placed vertically onto the extension bar, extending the handle to approx 600mm, the average length for an engineer to lift using the the legs as opposed to the back.
The handle is placed into the eyelet of the cover as normal. The extension bar is then placed through the centre of the handle in a horizontal position.
The bottle jack is then placed into a recess into the extension bar, and there is now a popping strength of 1 tonne. This method will not lift the cover, but once freed, a previous lifting position can be adopted to remove completely.
